For parents
From asking to the first lesson
Four stages, and only the first one needs anything from you.

01
You send your request
Level, subjects, when your child is free, your area and your budget. About two minutes, no account, and nothing to pay.

02
We score every tutor
Anyone who can't teach that subject at that level is out. The rest are ranked on hours, area, budget and your preferences, and your list is ready the moment you submit.

03
You choose, we introduce
Invite anyone on your list, or wait and see who applies. Pick one and we send you both each other's details, asking them to be in touch within 48 hours.

04
The first lesson
You agree a time with the tutor directly. From there it's your arrangement, for as long as it's working. If it isn't, tell us and we'll reopen your request.
The matching
What we actually match on
Every tutor is scored out of 100 against your request. These are the real weights we score with, read straight off the engine that does the scoring, not a general idea of what we look at.
Nothing here is a guess about you. Every one of these comes from an answer you gave us in the form, which is why the form asks for them and nothing else.

Must match
A tutor who doesn't teach your child's subject at your child's level is never scored at all, so they never reach you.

How we check a tutor is who they say
This is the part we are slowest and fussiest about, and the part worth reading properly before you book anyone, here or anywhere else.
We ask for the document, not the claim
A verified badge means we have seen proof: a degree scroll or an academic transcript for qualifications and results, and a letter or posting record for current and former MOE teachers.
The name has to match
We check the name on those documents against the name on the account. A badge on a profile means the person in it is the person we checked.
We never ask for NRIC
Not from tutors, not from you. We don't need it to do any of this, so we don't collect it and we have none to lose.
You decide, after you've met
A badge is not a judgement of their teaching. Meet them, ask your own questions, and ask to see the certificates yourself before lessons begin.
Not every tutor has been through this yet, and we never pretend otherwise. Your matches show you which have, and you can filter the list down to only those. The full policy is in our terms.

For tutors
Tutoring with us
Apply once. We'll show you assignments that genuinely fit the levels you teach, the areas you travel to, the hours you're free and the rate you charge, then introduce you when there's a match.
- No commission and no fees, so you keep every dollar you earn
- No job boards to trawl, no bidding against other tutors
- Assignments ranked by fit, so you don't waste time on bad ones
- Set your own rate, areas and hours, and change them any time
Before you ask
The questions parents actually ask
If yours is not here, message us on WhatsApp and we will answer it properly.
What does Cognify cost a parent?
Nothing. There is no fee for a request, no commission on your lessons and no charge for an introduction. You pay your tutor directly, in whatever way the two of you arrange, and we never handle that money or take a share of it. If it ever changes we will say so plainly before it does, and introductions made while the service is free stay free.
Do I need an account to ask for a tutor?
No. The form takes about two minutes, and all it needs is a number or an email so we can send your matches back to you. An account is optional. It exists so you can come back to your matches later without hunting for the link.
How quickly will I hear something?
Your request is scored against every tutor on our books the moment you send it, so the ranking is ready straight away. How fast an introduction follows depends on who teaches that subject and who is free when you are, and we would rather say that honestly than promise a number we cannot keep.
How are tutors checked?
A verified badge means we have seen proof of what the tutor claimed: a degree scroll or an academic transcript for qualifications and results, and a letter or posting record for current and former MOE teachers. We check the name on the documents against the name on the account, and we never ask for or keep NRIC numbers. The badge is not a judgement of their teaching, so do meet them and ask your own questions before lessons begin.
What if the tutor is not right for my child?
Ask us for a different one, at any time and for any reason, and we will look again from scratch. Lessons already taught are still owed to the first tutor. There is no penalty and no awkward conversation to have with us about it.
How much should I expect to pay a tutor?
Tutors set their own rates, and what you settle on is whatever you and your tutor agree. Any figures on this site come from what tutors are currently asking rather than prices we set. You give us a range in the form, and we only show you tutors who work inside it.
Home tuition or online?
Either, and you choose. Tell us where you are and whether you want lessons at home, online, or either, and we only rank tutors who genuinely travel to your area or teach online.
Am I committing to anything by sending a request?
No. A request obliges you to book nobody, and you can close it whenever you like. Once lessons do start, both sides usually plan around three months, which is an expectation to plan around rather than a lock-in, and a lesson can be moved with a day's notice.
